Kuala Lumpur: Tree Planting Activity was first held in March 2021 at Tawau Hills Park, Tawau. The success of the previous event has encouraged us to do more tree planting activities with a record number of participants attending the event during World Wildlife Day conducted on May 8th, 2022. There was about 20 fig tree that was successfully planted on October 8th2022. The objective of the activity was to plant wildlife’s favorite food, create a fig garden nursery, as well as educate the local communities about the importance of figs and their contribution to the local wildlife such as the Hornbills.


Tree Planting Activity was an excellent start for the month of October. The event was possible due to the support of the German Embassy, Kuala Lumpur due to the support they have given to the Helmeted Hornbill and Community driven program. To an extent, this was an event supported by teachers from Kolej Vokasional Tawau and foreign tourists. “Tree planting is a very good initiative for the ecosystem in Taman Bukit Tawau” – Izni Nurul Afiqah. “To reverse the climate change, I do think that we all have to do our best to plant trees” – Kate.
