KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — An elderly woman was found burned to death after her house was destroyed in a fire at Kampung Pituru in Kudat on Sunday night.
In the incident, which occurred around 8pm, Lo Hiong Lan, 76, who lived alone, was found in the living room on the ground floor of the two-storey house.
“The fire involved a two-storey house that was completely destroyed and was extinguished by villagers before the fire brigade arrived,” Kudat Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief Ishak Jabas told Sinar Harian yesterday.
He said three firefighters were deployed to the scene, located 45 kilometres from BBP Kudat, after receiving a call at 8.10pm.
He added that the victim was found burned to death during a subsequent inspection and extinguishing process, before her body was handed over to the police for further action.
“Firefighting operations were fully completed at 2.25am after ensuring the scene was safe,” he said.
