PETALING JAYA: Many Malaysians say they want to eat healthy but find that putting words into practice can be difficult.

Juices are one way to make healthier diets more manageable, but between the sugary juices found in supermarkets and the overpriced ones from specialised juice bars, it is hard to find an option that is both nutritious and affordable.

Hoping to change this, two doctors have come up with a new line of juices called Fit Jouis.

Equipped with their medical knowledge, Dr Shamini Subramaniam and Dr Santhira Vijaya Kumar hope that Fit Jouis will help Malaysians practise healthier eating without burning a hole in their pockets.

“We have witnessed many people falling sick due to nutrient deficiencies and find that they end up taking supplements,” Santhira tells FMT.

This baffled them as Malaysia is blessed with an abundance of fruits and vegetables, which led them to conclude that these deficiencies were caused by unhealthy diets.

As most Malaysians enjoy on-the-go meals, the doctors came up with an on-the-go solution.

“Juices in the market have extra sugar and calories that make them unhealthy,” Santhira explains. “Our cold-press juice does not have added sugar or artificial sweetener.”

The doctors also provide health consultations to their customers. “We spend time with them, listen to their issues and provide them with products that are suitable for them. We also follow up on them to see their progress.”

The Fit Jouis line-up currently has six varieties, each targeting different sets of nutritional needs, and more are on the way. Each fruit and vegetable is hand-picked before being juiced completely, with the enzymes and nutrients preserved throughout the process.

Santhira adds that the majority of their customers fall in the 18-34 age group, but they hope to focus on people of all ages and promote health awareness to all.

“We are on a mission to ingrain healthy diets in fellow Malaysians. All you need to do is to start taking your daily diet seriously,” she says.

Fit Jouis juices are priced at RM8 each or RM45 for six bottles, while consultations are free. To learn more, visit their Facebook page or call 014-9085702.
