GE15: Youth to be appointed adviser to MB if BN retains Perak

IPOH: With the growing number of registered youth voters, Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) wants to give a chance for a youth to be appointed adviser to the Perak menteri besar.

Unveiling the Perak BN manifesto, state chairman Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said this effort was based on the belief that young people are the pillars of Perak’s future.

He said there were 1.1 million youth aged between 15 and 40, which is almost half of Perak’s population of 2.6 million people.

“As such, Perak’s youth empowerment agenda will be intensified through specific programmes covering social, economic and leadership aspects,” he said in his speech in Taman Permai Meru, here, tonight.

The Perak BN manifesto has five cores, four focuses and 75 initiatives.

The caretaker Perak menteri besar said if the party clinches victory in the 15th General Election (GE15), it would amend the state constitutional enactment to enable the appointment of assemblymen from minority and youth groups.

“Perak BN will always prioritise the stability of the government to allow the economy to grow, to attract investors and build a new political narrative that guarantees stability for the sake of the people and the state.

“We will also ensure an anti-party hopping law is tabled at the state legislative assembly in line with the federal level.

“We will also continue to provide fair and equitable allocation to all state assembly seats to ensure the fate of every people from all walks of life is protected,” he said.

Themed “Stability for Well-Being”, the five cores are political stability, integrity and efficient leadership and administration; economic well-being; social prosperity and youth empowerment.

Saarani said the party was serious about assisting the people who were still hugely impacted by Covid-19.

“GE15 is not about ‘ayaq’ or ‘ayor’. GE15 is not about making jokes. BN is serious when we enter the GE15 battlefield because we want to help the people.

“This manifesto is not a work of fiction, or rhetoric but it was done after we went to the ground, meeting people from all walks of life so that we will win in GE15,” he said.

For the four main focuses, Saarani said Perak BN pledged to focus on food security, education, people’s housing programme and health.
