Covid-19 Malaysia: Six new clusters, 99 active clusters

Putrajaya: The Ministry of Health (MOH) has detected six more new clusters, bringing the current Covid-19 cluster in the country to 99.
Director-General of Health Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said two clusters were recorded in Selangor, namely Jambu cluster and Bah Mutiara cluster, while other clusters were Tinusa cluster recorded in Sabah and Sarawak, Sauh (Sabah) cluster, Sofi cluster (Negeri Sembilan) and Umboo cluster (Malacca).
He said 33 new positive cases of Covid-19 were detected in the Sofi cluster where a total of 160 individuals were screened to date.
“This cluster involves the Seremban district and the index cases for this cluster (22,198 cases) which have been identified positively, as a result of symptomatic screening last Tuesday and have been admitted to Rembau Hospital.
“Close contact screening has identified 33 more positive cases,” he said at a press conference on the latest developments of Covid-19 today.

As for the Tinusa cluster, he said the cluster was identified as a result of screening of symptomatic individuals (12,844 cases) on October 6 in the Sandakan district and was admitted to the Duchess of Kent Hospital.
He said close contact screening had identified 33 more positive cases with three being new cases.

“As for the Sauh Cluster, this cluster involves Kota Kinabalu and Papar districts in Sabah and Miri district in Sarawak where the index cases for this cluster (16,540 cases and 17,508 cases) were positively identified as a result of symptomatic screening on 13 October.
“As of 12 noon today, a total of 149 individuals from this cluster have been screened, with 17 cases detected positive and of that number three are new cases,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Jambu cluster and the Bah Mutiara cluster involve the Hulu Langat district, Selangor.
For the Pink Cluster, the index for this cluster (19,367 cases) was positively identified on October 16 and was admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital.
“A total of 139 individuals were screened, 15 of them were positively tested with six of them being new cases.
“The Bah Mutiara cluster was detected in Titiwangsa and Lembah Pantai in Kuala Lumpur. The index case for this cluster (10,507 cases) has been identified positively and has a history of returning from a high-risk area of ​​Sabah, ” he said.

Dr Noor Hisham said the sixth cluster, namely the Umboo cluster involving Alor Gajah district, Melaka and the index case (case 21,322) had been positively tested as a result of screening at the Immigration Detention Depot last Sunday.
He said the individual had been admitted to Melaka Hospital and close contact screening had identified three more positive cases.
“As of 12 noon today, a total of 373 individuals have been screened, four cases have been positively detected by Covid-19 of which one is a new case,” he said.
