Losing your job is difficult. Your routine will change, your financial situation will be severely impacted, and it can place a lot of strain on your relationships.
Sadly the pandemic has caused many people to be out of work, leaving them feeling anxious, depressed and worthless. Here are some ways to cope if you are unemployed.
1. Lean on others for support
People often experience shame when they lose their job, which leads them to isolate themselves from their loved ones. This is the opposite of what you should do.
Confide in those closest to you to help you work through your feelings. Remember that your family members are also likely to be affected, so having a conversation with them could be beneficial to all.
2. Take a break
While your first instinct may be to jump back into the job market, that isn’t always the best option. If you are in the position to take a break before looking for a job, you should consider it.

Take some time to work through everything that happened. This will help you recharge and gain a fresh perspective on your options going forward.
3. Learn a new skill
If you have gone from spending your days working to doing nothing, you may feel bored. It is the perfect time to learn a new skill. This will help you feel productive, which will help curb feelings of inadequacy.
It can also help you get a new job – the more mental and practical skills you have, the more you can offer a company.
